Mr. Verlon Stewart age 92, of Cedartown, passed away on Sunday morning, Jan. 10, 2016.

Verlon Stewart was born on Feb. 24, 1923 in Polk County a son of the late Mr. James Brown Stewart and the late Mrs. Effie West Stewart.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Clifford Stewart; his sister, Elsie Stewart Brantley and his wife, Elizabeth Atkins Stewart in 2000.

Mr. Stewart worked in the Constructi­on and Farming Industry for many years until his retirement. He was a Veteran serving in the United States Navy during WWII aboard the USS Trout.

Mr. Stewart was a member of the Collard Valley Baptist Church.

Mr. Stewart is survived by his sons and daughters in law, Dan Stewart and Janice, Dennis Stewart and Melva, his daughters and son in law, Joy Leifheit and Jan Dake and David. Seven grandchild­ren, 9 great grandchild­ren, nieces and nephews also survive.

In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Stewart was cremated.

The Memorial Service for Mr. Verlon Stewart was conducted on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016 at 4 p.m. from the Chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Smith and Rev. Robert Boatner officiatin­g.

The family received friends on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016 prior to the memorial hour at the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home.

The family ask that flowers please be omitted and memorial donations be made to the Collard Valley Baptist Church C/O Karen Dingler, 141 Pullen Rd., Lindale, Ga., 30147.

The Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangemen­ts for Mr. Verlon Stewart. Beach, Va.; two grandchild­ren, Johnathan Lindsey and Jacob Lindsey both of LaGrange.

Funeral services for Mr. Lindsey were held on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Owen (Bud) Davis, Jr. officiatin­g.

Interment services followed in the family lot of the Oakwood Cemetery of Lanett, Ala.

The family received friends at the funeral home on Wednesday prior to the funeral service.
