Trac­tor driver killed in week­end wreck, woman charged

The in­ves­ti­ga­tion into the death of a trac­tor driver in Polk County con­tin­ues ac­cord­ing to coro­ner Tony Bra­zier fol­low­ing a road­way col­li­sion over the week­end.

Bra­zier said that Jerry Eu­gene Robin­son, 59, of a Lau­rens Road ad­dress, was pro­nounced dead at Polk Med­i­cal Cen­ter Satur­day at 5:14 p.m.

Robin­son was car­ry­ing a hay bale down Bel­lview Road near the in­ter­sec­tion with Pine Moun­tain Road when the driver of a Honda Ac­cord trav­el­ing at “a high rate of speed struck the trac­tor and caused it to flip and over­turn into the ditch,” Bra­zier said.

He said Robin­son was ejected from the trac­tor and de­spite life­sav­ing ef­forts from by­standers on the scene and Red­mond EMS per­son­nel, he suc­cumbed to blunt force in­juries to the head and neck Satur­day af­ter­noon.

The driver of the Ac­cord, Stacie Wad­dell Hen­son, 34, of 3974 Old Rock­mart Road in Sil­ver Creek, was jailed on charges by the Ge­or­gia State Pa­trol on felony homi­cide by ve­hi­cle in the first de­gree and mis­de­meanor charges of driv­ing un­der the in­flu­ence of al­co­hol, driv­ing while li­cense sus­pended or re­voked, no in­sur­ance, and fol­low­ing too closely.

No bond has been set by su­pe­rior court, ac­cord­ing to Polk County Jail records.

Bra­zier said the Ge­or­gia State Pa­trol’s Spe­cial­ized Col­li­sion Re­con­struc­tion Team was on scene on Bel­lview Road for sev­eral hours Satur­day.

Robin­son’s body was trans­ported to the Ge­or­gia Crime Lab in De­catur for an au­topsy late Satur­day, Bra­zier said.
