Celebrating Pearl’s special day with a donation to CHS.
Pearl, a Boxer dog, took center stage at a fundraising event for the Cedartown Humane Society (CHS) at 1745 Nathan Dean Parkways in Rockmart.
Karen Vines adopted her pet at CHS about a year ago. Although she does not know her real birth date, she celebrates what is termed “Pearl’s adoption date.”
On Saturday, Feb. 6, she celebrated the occasion by making a donation to the local humane society.
“We wish to thank each person who continues to support adoption of animals that need a home,” said Charlotte Harrison, president of CHS.
Meanwhile, pets of all breeds came to have their photos made for Valentine’s Day. In fact, most were dressed in a rainbow of colors that enhanced their wellgroomed looks.
Some of the animals were barking and wagging tails at the crowd while others were quiet and waited for their “pet parent” to give them directions. All appeared to be on their best behavior as if they sensed this was a unique opportunity to show off for a good cause.
“We want to help the animals and support the work of the Cedartown Humane Society,” said Ralph Lowther, owner of Liberty Tax Service in Rockmart.
Excluding host Liberty Tax Service, businesses that supported the event were: Serenity Place Animal Rescue, Precious Paws, Anytime Fitness, Great Clips, Raceway, Rockmart Animal Hospital, and others.
The Cedartown Humane Society serves all of Polk County. The goals of this group are:
Establish an innovative, aggressive adoption program
Initiate Responsible Pet Ownership education in public schools
Increase funding for local animal rescue and adoption programs
Raise public awareness of the importance of spaying or neutering pets
