Ms. Ven­able

Ms. Linda Sue Ven­able, age 49, of Cedar­town passed away Tues­day, Fe­bru­ary 9, 2016.

Ms. Ven­able was born in Rock­mart on Aug. 18, 1966, the daugh­ter of the late Wil­liam Can­nie Van­able and Donna Weaver Robin­son.

Be­sides her father, she was pre­ceded in death by her step-father, Joey Robin­son; and one sis­ter Faye Deaton.

Sur­vivors in­clude one daugh­ter and son-in-law, Ash­ley and Greg Walker of Tal­lapoosa; three sis­ters and brothers-in-law, Teresa and Ricky Reeves of Cedar­town, Sherry and Rob Bax­ter of Rome and Am­malee and Billy Short of Cedar­town; three brothers, Greg Wills of Cedar­town, David Ven­able of Cedar­town and Larry Ven­able of Rome; one grand­child Elexus Dabbs; and a num­ber of other rel­a­tives.

The fam­ily con­ducted a me­mo­rial ser­vice Fri­day, Feb. 12, 2016 at 3 p.m. at the Cedar­town Amer­i­can Le­gion, 1675 Rock­mart Hwy., Cedar­town, Ga. 30125.

The fam­ily re­ceived friends Fri­day af­ter­noon at the Amer­i­can Le­gion prior to the me­mo­rial servie.

Mrs. Glad­den

Mrs. Karla Brum­be­low Glad­den, age 58 of Rock­mart, passed away Mon­day evening, Feb. 8, 2016 af­ter a brief ill­ness.

Mrs. Glad­den was born March 6, 1957 in Rock­mart, daugh­ter of the late Johnny Brum­be­low and the late Myrna Arm­strong Brum­be­low.

She was a grad­u­ate of the Rock­mart High School Class of 1975 and a mem­ber of the Friend­ship Bap­tist Church of Pauld­ing County. Mrs. Glad­den re­tired from the Polk School District in 2013 hav­ing been a para­pro at East­side El­e­men­tary and sec­re­tary at Rock­mart High School.

She was presently a part-time em­ployee of the Smith-Lock­wood Drug Store.

Mrs. Glad­den was pre­ceded in death by her hus­band, Mr. Larry “Neal” Glad­den on April 18, 2014.

Mrs. Glad­den’s life changed dras­ti­cally at the death of her beloved Neal, but her love for her church, fam­ily and es­pe­cially her neph­ews grew even stronger.

Sur­vivors in­cluded two sis­ters, Julie Brum­be­low and Su­san Brum­be­low Alexan­der and her hus­band Duane all of Rock­mart; brother, Steve Brum­be­low and his fi­ancé Stacey Smith of Rock­mart; sis­terin-law, Brenda Glad­den Stringer and her hus­band Jerry of Rock­mart; un­cle, Robert Arm­strong and his wife Mary of Rome; spe­cial cousin, Anna Kerr of Rock­mart; niece, Danielle Alexan­der of Aragon; neph­ews, Wade Stringer and his wife Wendy, Adam “AJ” Brum­be­low, Brad Brum­be­low, Richard Smith and Ryan Smith all of Rock­mart.

Fu­neral ser­vices for Mrs. Glad­den were held on Thurs­day, Feb. 11, 2016 at 4 p.m. in the chapel of the Free­man Har­ris Fu­neral Home with Rev. Bobby Wal­raven of­fi­ci­at­ing.

A eu­logy was given by her nephew, Mr. Adam “AJ” Brum­be­low. In­ter­ment ser­vices fol­lowed in the fam­ily lot of Rose Hill Ceme­tery.

The fol­low­ing gen­tle­men served as pall­bear­ers: Mike Wil­liams, Mark Broome, Kenny Arm­strong, Barry Gore, Keith Lindsey and Jon Forsyth.

Mr. Deems

Mr. Justin Lewis Deems, age 25, of Rock­mart, passed away Sun­day, Feb. 7, 2016 from in­juries re­ceived in an in­dus­trial ac­ci­dent.

Justin was born in Rome on July 15, 1990 a son of the late Ralph Lewis Deems and the late Paula Allen Deems.

He had lived all of his life in Polk County and was a grad­u­ate of Rock­mart High School.

Justin loved to fish and go camp­ing. He was a for­mer em­ployee of Rock­mart Rent To Own and had been em­ployed since May of 2015 with JCG Farms.

Sur­vivors in­clude his wife Ash­ley Hobert Deems to whom he was mar­ried on July 11, 2015; two brothers: Ja­son Deems and Travis Deems; two sis­ters: Ash­ley Wil­liams and Hope Deems; mother, Rita Deems; Nanny, Bar­bara Brink­ley; grand­par­ents, Burt and Mary Jane Tib­betts and nu­mer­ous half brothers and sis­ters.

Fu­neral ser­vices were held Fri­day, Feb. 12, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller and Son Fu­neral Home with Rev. Leonard Ak­ers of­fi­ci­at­ing and Mr. Derrick Til­ley de­liv­er­ing a eu­logy.

In­ter­ment fol­lowed in the Oak Ridge Bap­tist Church Ceme­tery.

Pall­bear­ers in­cluded: Chris Win­ters, Joseph Bright, Travis Deems, Ja­son Deems, Josh Blair and Derrick Til­ley.

The Alvis Miller and Son Fu­neral Home was in charge of ar­range­ments for the fu­neral of Mr. Justin Lewis Deems.

Mr. Hughes Jr.

Mr. Wil­liam Robert “Bill” Hughes, Jr., age 59, of Cedar­town Ga., passed away Sun­day morn­ing, Feb. 7, 2016.

Mr. Hughes was born on July 7, 1956 in Detroit, Michi­gan a son of the late Wil­liam Robert Hughes, Sr., and the late Rita Cor­bit Hughes.

He was em­ployed by Kilo Truck­ing for a num­ber of years.

Mr. Hughes was also pre­ceded in death by his wife, Bertha Ann Misch Hughes in Jan­uary 2015.

Bill Hughes is sur­vived by his sons, Wil­liam Robert Hughes, III, Kirk Allen Goff and Jef­fery Eric Hughes; his daugh­ters, Trina Glenn and Rita Marie Lee and brothers, Ricky Hughes and Danny Hughes.

Twelve grand­chil­dren, twenty great grand­chil­dren, nieces and neph­ews also sur­vive.

In keep­ing with Mr. Hughes wishes, he will be cre­mated. The visi­ta­tion and Me­mo­rial Ser­vice for Bill Hughes was held on Sun­day, Feb.14, 2015 from 10 a.m. un­til 2 p.m. at the res­i­dence, 2202 Treat Moun­tain Rd., Cedar­town. Grave­side ser­vices will fol­low in the Sun­rise Me­mo­rial Gar­dens in Dou­glasville, Ga.

Mr. Han­nah

Fu­neral ser­vices for Mr. Don Han­nah, 74, of Cave Spring, who died Sun­day, Feb. 7, 2016, were held Wed­nes­day, Feb. 10, 2016 at 2 p.m. at John House’s Cave Spring Chapel with Rev. Buddy Floyd of­fi­ci­at­ing.

In­ter­ment fol­lowed in the Cave Spring Ceme­tery with the Honor Guard of the Shanklin At­t­away Post 5 of the Amer­i­can Le­gion pro­vid­ing mil­i­tary rites.

Mr. Han­nah was a na­tive of Cowan, Tenn., born April 5, 1941, son of the late Char­lie Han­nah and the late An­nie Lynch Han­nah.

He was a vet­eran of the U. S. Navy, and had owned a ma­sonry com­pany in Cowan.

Ms. Hood

Ms. Colie Price Hood, age 87, of Grif­fin, and for­merly of Cedar­town., passed away on Sun­day morn­ing, Feb. 7, 2016.

Ms. Hood was born on June 5, 1928 in Vic­tory to the late Wyatt and Wil­lie Price.

She was also pre­ceded in death by her hus­band Charles Carl Hood and a son Bobby Lewis Hood.

Sur­viv­ing are her daugh­ter, San­dra Kin­ney; her sis­ter and brother in law, Jean and Ray Dol­lar; grand­chil­dren, Bobby L. Hood Jr., and Ti­mothy Eric Hood; three great grand­chil­dren and three great great grand­chil­dren. nieces and neph­ews also sur­vive.

Fu­neral ser­vices for Ms. Colie Price Hood were con­ducted on Wed­nes­day, Feb. 10, 2016 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Lester Lite­sey Fu­neral Home with Dr. Rex Allen of­fi­ci­at­ing. In­ter­ment fol­lowed in the San­ders Ceme­tery. The fam­ily re­ceived friends on Wed­nes­day, Feb. 10, 2016 from 12 p.m. un­til the fu­neral hour at the Lite­sey Fu­neral Home.

Mrs. Mauldin

Mrs. Deanie Y. Mauldin, age 91, of Aragon passed away Satur­day, Feb. 6, 2016 in a Rome nurs­ing cen­ter.

She was born in Floyd County on Oct. 25, 1924 a daugh­ter of James Melvin York and Wil­lie Mae York.

Mrs. Mauldin had been a res­i­dent of Aragon since 1953 and was a re­tired em­ployee of In­te­grated Mills of Aragon. She loved to read, gar­den and go to yard sales. Mrs. Mauldin was of the Bap­tist faith.

In ad­di­tion to her par­ents, she was pre­ceded in death by her hus­band, Wil­liam L. Mauldin; by two grand­sons: Tony Jay and Mike Jay; by a brother, James Melvin York, Jr.; and by two sis­ters: Mary Evans and Sy­ble Patty.

She is sur­vived by a daugh­ter Frances Witcher and her hus­band Joe, Cen­tre, Ala.; one brother, Robert York, Aragon; three sis­ters: An­nie Street­man, Hazel Brown and Pearl John­son all of Aragon; three grand­chil­dren and seven great grand­chil­dren.

Grave­side fu­neral and in­ter­ment ser­vices were held Tues­day, Feb. 9, 2016 at 1 p.m. in the Aragon Ceme­tery with Rev. Calvin Brown of­fi­ci­at­ing.

The Alvis Miller and Son Fu­neral Home was in charge of ar­range­ments for the fu­neral of Mrs. Deanie Y. Mauldin.

Mr. Bai­ley

Mr. John H. Bai­ley, age 71 of Rock­mart, passed away Satur­day, Feb. 6, 2016.

Mr. Bai­ley was born Aug. 9, 1944 in Ma­con, son of Carol Dasher and the late Ed­ward Bai­ley. He was a for­mer em­ployee of Gen­eral Elec­tric and re­tired from Mo­torola hav­ing worked with rail­road com­mu­ni­ca­tions.

Sur­vivors in­cluded his wife, Cyn­thia Black Bai­ley of Rock­mart; daugh­ter, Lisa Bai­ley and her wife, An­gel of Can­ton; son, Hugh Bai­ley and his wife Kim of Birm­ing­ham, Ala.; mother, Carol Dasher of Jenk­ins­burg; two sis­ters, San­dra Freiedrich­sen of Aiken, S.C., and Linda Pow­der of Mont­gomery, Ala.; brother, Robert Bai­ley of Ft. My­ers, Fla.; one grand­son, Max Bai­ley also sur­vived.

No me­mo­rial ser­vices for Mr. Bai­ley are planned at this time.
