Mr. Thornton

Mr. Barry Ray Thornton, age 63 of Aragon, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016.

Mr. Thornton was born July 18, 1952 in Rome, son of Lillian Forsyth Thornton and the late Guy W. Thornton.

He was a graduate of Tyner High School of Chattanoog­a, Tenn. Mr. Thornton was a member of the Mars Hills Baptist Church of Chattanoog­a and retired after working in retail sales.

His passion was interior designing, having assisted several families in decorating their new homes and especially enjoyed decorating for Christmas.

Survivors include his mother, Lillian Thornton of Rockmart; two brothers, Allan Thornton of Rockmart and Eddie Wayne Thornton and his wife Libby of Adairsvill­e; close friend, Danny Millhollan; two nieces also survived.

Funeral services for Mr. Thornton were held on Friday, Feb. 12, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Parris officiatin­g.

Interment services followed in the family lot of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

The following gentlemen served as pallbearer­s: Mark Forsyth, Hugh Thornton, John Forsyth, Danny Forsyth, Matthew Forsyth and Larry Gore.
