The facility has hosted some of country music’s most talented bluegrass and contemporary music artists. Stars appearing on stage include Buddy Jewell, Jennifer Moorman, the Kentucky Headhunters, Sam Hunt and others.

Today, The Rock Campground, RV and Music Park not only hosts music venues but thousands of children, families and the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. It is open throughout the year and conveniently located across from mile marker 34 on the Silver Comet Trail.

“It takes time and effort to prepare for each of the events,” Hitchcock said. “There is a lot of blood, sweat and tears that goes into this place and we truly enjoy it. Seeing the smiles on the children’s faces makes it all worthwhile.”

He emphasized that The Rock is the only Campground/ RV Park located near the Silver Comet Trail on mile marker 34 and that thousands of Boy Scouts visit the campground.

“We provide accommodations for the Atlanta Cycling Festival where hundreds of people from Atlanta bike and stay with us,” he said.

Additionally, The Rock annually hosts the Greater Atlanta Athletes 12k/5k race on the Silver Comet Trail plus weddings, and private activities.

LPR Construction plans to host a private event at The Rock. It is sponsored by The Atlanta Braves Team, NASA Test Stand Team, and Solvay Project Team. Plans are to continue seeking feedback from companies that can see the site as a positive experience when visiting Polk County.

“The welcome mat is always spread for local residents and businesses to host events at The Rock,” Hitchcock said. “You will never meet a stranger at one of our events!”

He emphasized the need for local support for on-site events. Many activities are held for charity, which promotes families in need.

“We need crowds to draw great bands for shows, concerts and benefits to justify expenses,” he said.
