Johnson presents musical program at Golden Age meet

A musical program was presented at the January meeting of the Golden Agers.

A total of 88 people heard Richard Johnson give what was described as a “great job” as he performed on the electric piano and harp.

Several members celebrated birthdays. They are: Burch Fannin, Barbara Free, Beverly Groover, Beth Lane, Jerry Lane, Charles Pinkard, Helen Rice, Buddy Tanner, Debbie Thompson, Sue Weaver, Bill Weaver, Yevonne Wheeler, and Melvin Yarbrough.

Gail Coker led the group in singing “Happy Birthday”. Additional­ly, best wishes were extended to those celebratin­g an anniversar­y: Guy and Paula Atkins, Joyce and Tim Hurt, Reba and Buddy Tanner.

Visitors were given a warm welcome. They included: Linda Dollar, Arthur and Beverly Stephen and Bob Waters. Each was invited to attend the next meeting.

Reports noted that the attendance was lower than average due to winter weather, sickness and other reasons.

Sympathy was extended to families that lost loved ones recently. They are: Margaret Bearden, Dick Tracy, Janet Thompson and TA Willingham.

The crowd was saddened to hear the news that Jimmy Lester had passed away and sympathy was also extended to this family.

Individual­s not present due to illness included: Nancy Phillips, Margaret and Billy Rowell, Fran Long, Chuck Pinkard, Joan Casey, Susan Lawhorn, Martha Holder, Bobby Harper, Christine Earwood, Denise Waters, Emma Spinks and oth- ers. Prayer was also requested for missionari­es, those serving in the United States Armed Forces, homebound and people residing in assisting living or other facilities.
