Ms. Venable

Ms. Linda Sue Venable, age 49, of Cedartown passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2016.

Ms. Venable was born in Rockmart on Aug. 18, 1966, the daughter of the late William Cannie Vanable and Donna Weaver Robinson.

Besides her father, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Joey Robinson; and one sister Faye Deaton.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Ashley and Greg Walker of Tallapoosa; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Teresa and Ricky Reeves of Cedartown, Sherry and Rob Baxter of Rome and Ammalee and Billy Short of Cedartown; three brothers, Greg Wills of Cedartown, David Venable of Cedartown and Larry Venable of Rome; one grandchild Elexus Dabbs; and a number of other relatives.

The family conducted a memorial service Friday, Feb. 12, 2016 at 3 p.m. at the Cedartown American Legion, 1675 Rockmart Hwy., Cedartown, Ga. 30125.

The family received friends Friday afternoon at the American Legion prior to the memorial servie.

Mrs. Gladden

Mrs. Karla Brumbelow Gladden, age 58 of Rockmart, passed away Monday evening, Feb. 8, 2016 after a brief illness.

Mrs. Gladden was born March 6, 1957 in Rockmart, daughter of the late Johnny Brumbelow and the late Myrna Armstrong Brumbelow.

She was a graduate of the Rockmart High School Class of 1975 and a member of the Friendship Baptist Church of Paulding County. Mrs. Gladden retired from the Polk School District in 2013 having been a parapro at Eastside Elementary and secretary at Rockmart High School.

She was presently a part-time employee of the Smith-Lockwood Drug Store.

Mrs. Gladden was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Larry “Neal” Gladden on April 18, 2014.

Mrs. Gladden’s life changed drasticall­y at the death of her beloved Neal, but her love for her church, family and especially her nephews grew even stronger.

Survivors included two sisters, Julie Brumbelow and Susan Brumbelow Alexander and her husband Duane all of Rockmart; brother, Steve Brumbelow and his fiancé Stacey Smith of Rockmart; sisterin-law, Brenda Gladden Stringer and her husband Jerry of Rockmart; uncle, Robert Armstrong and his wife Mary of Rome; special cousin, Anna Kerr of Rockmart; niece, Danielle Alexander of Aragon; nephews, Wade Stringer and his wife Wendy, Adam “AJ” Brumbelow, Brad Brumbelow, Richard Smith and Ryan Smith all of Rockmart.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gladden were held on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016 at 4 p.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Walraven officiatin­g.

A eulogy was given by her nephew, Mr. Adam “AJ” Brumbelow. Interment services followed in the family lot of Rose Hill Cemetery.

The following gentlemen served as pallbearer­s: Mike Williams, Mark Broome, Kenny Armstrong, Barry Gore, Keith Lindsey and Jon Forsyth.

Mr. Deems

Mr. Justin Lewis Deems, age 25, of Rockmart, passed away Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016 from injuries received in an industrial accident.

Justin was born in Rome on July 15, 1990 a son of the late Ralph Lewis Deems and the late Paula Allen Deems.

He had lived all of his life in Polk County and was a graduate of Rockmart High School.

Justin loved to fish and go camping. He was a former employee of Rockmart Rent To Own and had been employed since May of 2015 with JCG Farms.

Survivors include his wife Ashley Hobert Deems to whom he was married on July 11, 2015; two brothers: Jason Deems and Travis Deems; two sisters: Ashley Williams and Hope Deems; mother, Rita Deems; Nanny, Barbara Brinkley; grandparen­ts, Burt and Mary Jane Tibbetts and numerous half brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 12, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Leonard Akers officiatin­g and Mr. Derrick Tilley delivering a eulogy.

Interment followed in the Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearer­s included: Chris Winters, Joseph Bright, Travis Deems, Jason Deems, Josh Blair and Derrick Tilley.

The Alvis Miller and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangemen­ts for the funeral of Mr. Justin Lewis Deems.

Mr. Hughes Jr.

Mr. William Robert “Bill” Hughes, Jr., age 59, of Cedartown Ga., passed away Sunday morning, Feb. 7, 2016.

Mr. Hughes was born on July 7, 1956 in Detroit, Michigan a son of the late William Robert Hughes, Sr., and the late Rita Corbit Hughes.

He was employed by Kilo Trucking for a number of years.

Mr. Hughes was also preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Ann Misch Hughes in January 2015.

Bill Hughes is survived by his sons, William Robert Hughes, III, Kirk Allen Goff and Jeffery Eric Hughes; his daughters, Trina Glenn and Rita Marie Lee and brothers, Ricky Hughes and Danny Hughes.

Twelve grandchild­ren, twenty great grandchild­ren, nieces and nephews also survive.

In keeping with Mr. Hughes wishes, he will be cremated. The visitation and Memorial Service for Bill Hughes was held on Sunday, Feb.14, 2015 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the residence, 2202 Treat Mountain Rd., Cedartown. Graveside services will follow in the Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Douglasvil­le, Ga.

Mr. Hannah

Funeral services for Mr. Don Hannah, 74, of Cave Spring, who died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016, were held Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016 at 2 p.m. at John House’s Cave Spring Chapel with Rev. Buddy Floyd officiatin­g.

Interment followed in the Cave Spring Cemetery with the Honor Guard of the Shanklin Attaway Post 5 of the American Legion providing military rites.

Mr. Hannah was a native of Cowan, Tenn., born April 5, 1941, son of the late Charlie Hannah and the late Annie Lynch Hannah.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, and had owned a masonry company in Cowan.

Ms. Hood

Ms. Colie Price Hood, age 87, of Griffin, and formerly of Cedartown., passed away on Sunday morning, Feb. 7, 2016.

Ms. Hood was born on June 5, 1928 in Victory to the late Wyatt and Willie Price.

She was also preceded in death by her husband Charles Carl Hood and a son Bobby Lewis Hood.

Surviving are her daughter, Sandra Kinney; her sister and brother in law, Jean and Ray Dollar; grandchild­ren, Bobby L. Hood Jr., and Timothy Eric Hood; three great grandchild­ren and three great great grandchild­ren. nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Ms. Colie Price Hood were conducted on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Lester Litesey Funeral Home with Dr. Rex Allen officiatin­g. Interment followed in the Sanders Cemetery. The family received friends on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016 from 12 p.m. until the funeral hour at the Litesey Funeral Home.

Mrs. Mauldin

Mrs. Deanie Y. Mauldin, age 91, of Aragon passed away Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016 in a Rome nursing center.

She was born in Floyd County on Oct. 25, 1924 a daughter of James Melvin York and Willie Mae York.

Mrs. Mauldin had been a resident of Aragon since 1953 and was a retired employee of Integrated Mills of Aragon. She loved to read, garden and go to yard sales. Mrs. Mauldin was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Mauldin; by two grandsons: Tony Jay and Mike Jay; by a brother, James Melvin York, Jr.; and by two sisters: Mary Evans and Syble Patty.

She is survived by a daughter Frances Witcher and her husband Joe, Centre, Ala.; one brother, Robert York, Aragon; three sisters: Annie Streetman, Hazel Brown and Pearl Johnson all of Aragon; three grandchild­ren and seven great grandchild­ren.

Graveside funeral and interment services were held Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016 at 1 p.m. in the Aragon Cemetery with Rev. Calvin Brown officiatin­g.

The Alvis Miller and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangemen­ts for the funeral of Mrs. Deanie Y. Mauldin.

Mr. Bailey

Mr. John H. Bailey, age 71 of Rockmart, passed away Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016.

Mr. Bailey was born Aug. 9, 1944 in Macon, son of Carol Dasher and the late Edward Bailey. He was a former employee of General Electric and retired from Motorola having worked with railroad communicat­ions.

Survivors included his wife, Cynthia Black Bailey of Rockmart; daughter, Lisa Bailey and her wife, Angel of Canton; son, Hugh Bailey and his wife Kim of Birmingham, Ala.; mother, Carol Dasher of Jenkinsbur­g; two sisters, Sandra Freiedrich­sen of Aiken, S.C., and Linda Powder of Montgomery, Ala.; brother, Robert Bailey of Ft. Myers, Fla.; one grandson, Max Bailey also survived.

No memorial services for Mr. Bailey are planned at this time.
