DTF’s search warrant in Cedartown nets five arrests
From Staff Reports
Five people were arrested last week following the execution of a search warrant on a Central Street residence in Cedartown which netted small amounts of drugs and cash, and a single firearm.
According to a press release from the Polk County Drug Task Force, they conducted the search warrant at 325 Central Street and found small amounts of cocaine, marijuana, cash and a gun.
Cedartown Police Chief Jamie Newsome, who is also the Drug Task Force Public Information Officer, said the search warrants and subsequent arrests came after several months of investigation into what he described as a “street level distribution” operation. He also said this was not considered any kind of gang-related activity.
The Aug. 11 arrests included Najawon Devonta Stallworth, 33, of 237 Houseal Street, Johntaveious Deshawn Sullivan, 32, of 730 Pace Street, Apt No. 2, Akelius Vashunn Brown, 31, of 326 Pine Street, Kamari Chazjuan Sullivan, 17, and Dontea Simone Parker, 24, of 325 Central Street. All the aforementioned persons are charged with possession of cocaine and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. All were transported to the Polk County Jail.
Stallworth also faced charges of possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Brown also faced an additional charge of unlawful to come through guard lines to deliver an inmate controlled sub- stances. Johntaveious Sullivan was also given a first offense charge for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Parker was thus far the only suspect to have a bond set as of Friday, Aug. 12, which was at $30,100.
“This investigation and search warrant is another example of fine cooperative work by the various law enforcement agencies in the county that participate in the operation of the Polk County Drug Task Force,” said
Newsome said that no further arrests were expected in the case and that the Drug Task Force was finished with the case.
