Mr. McEntire

Mr. Donnie Lamar McEntire, age 60 of Calhoun, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Floyd Medical Center following several years of declining health.

He was born in Bartow County on March 23, 1956, son of the late Carl and Rose McEntire.

Mr. McEntire was a loving husband, father and grandfathe­r. Even though his health was not good, he was a man who had to stay busy. He loved doing whatever he could for his family, enjoying his farm, and riding his Kawasaki Mule.

He was retired from Fafnir, and was a member of Meadowdale Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Debra Garland McEntire; his sons and daughter- in-law, Barry and Shanna McEntire, and Donnie Lamar McEntire, all of Calhoun; his daughter and sonin-law, Amy and Scott Silvers of Calhoun; brothers, Michael McEntire of Taylorsvil­le, and Joe McEntire of Cedartown; sisters, Barbara Garland of Calhoun, and Deborah Davenport of Taylorsvil­le; and grandchild­ren, Brody Silvers, Belle Silvers, Lacey McEntire, Riley McEntire, Barrett McEntire, and Britton McEntire. Many wonderful nieces and nephews also survived.

Services to honor the life of Mr. Donnie Lamar McEntire were held Monday, Aug. 15, 2016 at 1 p.m. from Meadowdale Baptist Church, with Dr. Steven Pearson and Dr. Gary Tate officiatin­g. Music was arranged by Travis Stephens and Faye Bentley. Interment followed in Chandler Cemetery.

Pallbearer­s serving were: Justin Hawkins, Benji Garland, Aaron Dodd, Clay Hulsey, Keith Hulsey, Randy Stanley, Jamie Stanley, John Davenport and Randy McEntire. Honorary pallbearer­s are J.C. Garland, Brody Silvers, and Todd Stephens.

Mr. Hackney

Mr. Edward Bruce Hackney, age 88, of Cedartown, passed away on Friday, Aug. 12, 2016.

He was born on Jan. 23, 1928 in Cedartown, the son of the late Paul and Beulah Hackney.

Mr. Hackney is survived by his granddaugh­ter Jennifer Hackney Moss (Andrew) and grandson Andrew Johnathan Hackney; great-granddaugh­ter Mary Leonard Moss; and girlfriend Estelle Clinton; Several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hackney is preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary Magdeline Hackney; son Gary Bruce Hackney; sisters Augusta Dingler and Evelyn Gary; brothers Charlie Hackney and Henry Hall Hackney.

The funeral service for Mr. Edward Bruce Hackney was conducted on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. in the afternoon at Pine Bower Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Kiser and Rev. W.A. Ivie officiatin­g.

Interment followed in the Pine Bower Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family of Mr. Hackney received family and friends on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016 prior to the funeral service hour at Pine Bower Baptist Church.

The following gentlemen served as pallbearer­s: Chris Ivie, Allen Ivie, Ethan Scoggin, Allen Scoggin, Tommy Jack Britt and Frankie Atkins.

The Pine Bower Adult men’s Sunday School Class served as honorary pallbearer­s for Mr. Hackney’s funeral service.

Mr. Williams

Mr. Henry Alvin Williams, age 71, of Aragon, passed away Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016 at his resi- dence following a brief illness.

He was born in Floyd County on Dec. 25, 1944 a son of Henry Sterling Williams and Mary Taylor Williams.

Mr. Williams had lived the greater part of his life in Aragon where he was a member of the Euharlee Baptist Church. He worked in the textile industry for many years followed by his most recent employment with Advance Storage Products as a metal fabricator.

He loved to repair lawn mowers and enjoyed lawn care.

He was a very warm and caring man who loved everyone and was loved by all with whom he came in contact with throughout all his life.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a granddaugh­ter, Keanna Lesha Thompson and by five brothers: Odell, Hugh, Ray, Glenn and Waymon Williams.

Survivors include his wife of fifty three years, Linda Williams, Aragon; three daughters: Lisa Robinson (Tommy), Argon, Rita Bishop (Jerry), Aragon and Karen Thompson (Jermaine), Aragon; eight grandchild­ren; seven great grandchild­ren; four sisters: Catherine Kelley, Aragon, Brenda Childers, Rockmart, Bernice Streetman, Buchanan and Gracie Sanders, Aragon; two brothers: Allen Williams, Aragon and Donnie Williams, Aragon; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller and Son Funeral Home with prayer by Rev. Billy Chambers and Rev. Steven Moore officiatin­g. Interment followed in the Aragon Cemetery with Bro. Brent Williams officiatin­g.

Pallbearer­s included: Carey Robinson, David Johnson, Josh Johnson, Mitchell Rice, Terry Spencer and Robert Bishop.

The family received friends Saturday prior to the service hour at the Alvis Miller and Son Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hawley

Mrs. Christie Lorraine Hawley, age 60, of Cedartown, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 10, 2016.

Mrs. Hawley was born on June 16, 1956 in Atlanta, to her parents, the late Jack and Frances Orr Marbut.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Russell Charles Hawley.

Mrs. Hawley was a retired Book keeper for the Marbut Binder Company. She was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her loving family, her daughters, Frances Mary Smith and Sandra Irene Swalley; her sister, Jessica Clemments; a number of other relatives also survive.

A memorial service for Mrs. Christie Lorraine Hawley will be conducted on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 14, 2016 at 1 p.m. from the Chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home with the Rev. Bryan Silver officiatin­g.

Mrs. Weaver

Mrs. Carolyn Darlene Weaver, age 85, of Cedartown, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 10, 2016 following an brief illness.

Mrs. Weaver was born on May 20, 1931 in Buchanan, a daughter of the late Madison and Willie C. Sanders.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Wilson Weaver in 2004.

Mrs. Weaver was a devoted and dedicated educator and had served for over 20 years with the Polk School District. She truly cherished her students as much as they cherished her.

Mrs. Weaver was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Cedartown and had taught Sunday School there for many years.

She is survived by her loving family, her son, Barry Weaver; her daughters and sons in law, Renee and Joe McLendon and Jill and Mike Googe; her brother and sister in law, Charles and Deborah Sanders; her sister, Barbara Dennis; her sister in law and brother in law, Lynn and Doug Wessinger; her grandchild­ren, Matt McLendon, Meredith Wallace, Carson Googe, Hayden Googe, Will Weaver and Weslee Weaver; her great grandchild­ren, Lila McLendon, Copper McLendon and Briggs Wallace; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Carolyn Darlene Weaver were conducted on Friday afternoon, Aug. 12, 2016 at 4 p.m. from the Chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. David Taylor, the Rev. Wayne Benefield officiatin­g and Mr. Joe McLendon delivering the Eulogy.

Music was under the direction of Martin West and Missy Lundy.

Interment followed in the family lot of the Mount Vernon Cemetery in Buchanan.

The family received friends on Friday afternoon, August 12, 2016.

Mrs. Weavers Grandsons and Britt Wallace will serve as Pallbearer­s.

Mr. Meck

Mr. Robert Milton Meck, age 82, of Cedartown, passed away on Tuesday morning, Aug. 9, 2016 following an extended illness.

Mr. Meck was born on Aug. 7, 1934 in Akron, Ohio a son of the late Milton H. Meck and the late Dorothy Bishop Meck. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, James Albert Meck.

He was a Veteran proudly serving in the United States Army. Prior to his retirement Mr. Meck had worked for a number of years as a Chemical Engineer with the Goodyear Company in Akron, Ohio.

Later he worked for the EFC Company in Rockmart, where he retired as a Chemical Engineer following many years of service.

Mr. Meck was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cedartown.

Mr. Meck is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Marion Meck; his sons and daughter in law, Jim and Su Meck and Dan Meck; his daughter, Karen Meck; grandchild­ren, Benjamin Meck, Patrick Meck, Amanda Guzman and Kassidy Fann and great grandchild­ren, Ari Guzman, Zoe Guzman and Keira Guzman.

The Memorial Service for Mr. Robert Milton Meck was conducted on Sunday, Aug. 14, at 4 p.m. from the First United Methodist Church of Cedartown with Rev. Michael Broome officiatin­g.

The family received friends on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church.

Ms. Martin

Ms. Debbie Lynn Martin, age 55, of Rockmart, passed away Monday, Aug. 8, 2016 in a Rome medical center.

Debbie was born in Rockmart on Aug. 19, 1960 a daughter of Wilson Artis Martin and JoAnn Graham Martin.

She had lived all of her life in Rockmart and was a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Joey Martin Sr. and Steve Leatherwoo­d.

Survivors include a sister, Janice Owens and her husband Kenneth, Adairsvill­e; two sisters in law: Tammy Martin, Cave Spring and Kathy Leatherwoo­d, Bremen; three nieces: Chasity McClure, Adairsvill­e, Kami Seagle, Bremen, Dawn Owens, Adairsvill­e and Rebecca Martin, Cave Spring; two nephews: Bubba Owens, Rome and Joey Martin Jr., Calhoun; a number of great nieces and great nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Head officiatin­g. Interment will follow in the Rockmart Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearer­s included: Bubba Owens, Joey Martin, Jr., Steve McClure and Rev. Michael Head.

The family received friends Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 10, prior to the funeral service hour.

Mrs. Parker

Mrs. Mary Lee Skinner Parker, age 81 of Rockmart passed away Monday morning, Aug. 8, 2016.

Mrs. Parker was born March 25, 1935 in Cleburne County, Ala., daughter of the late Freeman Lee Skinner and the late Mary Etta Robinson Skinner.

She was a homemaker and of the Church of God faith. Mrs. Parker loved to collect salt and pepper shakers, but her greatest love was her family and home.

Survivors included her husband, Charles Lee Parker to whom she was married Dec. 18, 1954; daughter, Laddina Mooneyham and her husband Ricky; son, Charles Edwin (Eddie) Parker all of Rockmart; brother, Johnny R. Skinner and his wife Brenda of Ranger; and two grandchild­ren, Matthew Parker and Levi Parker.

Funeral services for Mrs. Parker were held on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Brother Ricky Mooneyham and Rev. Roger Parris officiatin­g.

Interment services followed in the family lot of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Johnson

Mr. Edwin Randall “Dr. Ed” Johnson, age 70, of Vidalia, died Sunday, August 7, 2016 in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after an extended illness.

He was a native of Polk County, graduated from Rockmart High School as well as radio communicat­ion school in Atlanta.

He began his broadcast career in 1969 in Vidalia at 98Q/WVOP, where he worked for twenty-five years. He moved to Sylvester in 1997 and recently returned to Vidalia.

He was a member of Sylvester Lighthouse Church of God and a member and Past Master of Vidalia Masonic Lodge #330.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Edwin and Geraldine Rakestraw Johnson.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Lorraine Garrett Johnson of Vidalia; two daughters, April Johnson Chambers and husband Michael of Uvalda, and Amber Johnson Foster of Vidalia; one brother, Richard Johnson and wife Brenda McBride Johnson of Rockmart; and seven grandchild­ren, Danielle, Shelly, Ethan, Cayle, Ansliegh, Shanna, and Adam.

The funeral service were held Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Mylon Brookins and Reverend Jimmy Hightower officiatin­g.

Burial followed in Pinecrest Cemetery with Pastor Dan Tomberlin officiatin­g.

The family received friends at the funeral home on Monday evening, Aug. 8.

Mr. Johnson

Mr. Donnie Larry Johnson, age 65, of Rockmart, passed away Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016 at his residence.

He was born in Taylorsvil­le on March 21, 1951 a son of A. J. Johnson and Gladys Waters Johnson.

Mr. Johnson had lived most of his life in Rockmart and attended Rockmart High School. He was a former employee of the Aragon Mill. Survivors include a sister, Cindy Mason, Rockmart; half brother, James Fuqua, Rockmart and four nieces.

Mr. Johnson was cremated with no formal services held at this time. Alvis Miller and Son Funeral Home is serving the family of Mr. Donnie Larry Johnson.
