Musical program stirs memories of the past for Golden Agers

Memories of Patsy Cline were stirred for those attending the July Golden Age meeting at First Baptist Church in Rockmart.

Susan Dease of Douglasvil­le presented the program. Everyone agreed she did a great job bringing Patsy Cline’s contributi­on to song and music back to life.

Songs included in the presentati­on were “I Fall to Pieces” and “Crazy” plus other favorites.

“It was good to hear the old songs again,” was the comment from several who attended the meeting.

Others noted the decoration­s and recognized the work of Marvin Bailey, Guy Beatty, Rick Brown, Jim Freeman, Bobby Hutcheson, Billy Greeson, Jerry Lane, L. C. Mullins, Jimmy Waldrop, Charles Perry, Billy Robinson and Charles Dansby.

A prayer, led by Dan Casey, was said for those who are ill, serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, missionari­es, homebound, assisted living residents and others.

Included on the sick list are Jackie Adair, Evelyn Brewer, Guy Atkins, Jean Clay, Mary Walk, Bertie Barfield, Chuck Tate, Faye Lankford and Carlton Duke.

Sympathy was extended to the fami- lies of Kathy Fairel, Dot Childers and Phyllis Tate.

Happy birthday wishes are also extended to the following:

Elaine Bailey, Barbara Bennett, James Brewer, Evelyn Brewer, Joan Casey, Linda Harris, Glen Hightower Fran Long, L.C. Mullins, Billy Rowell, Mary Tracy and Jim Wilson.

Happy anniversar­y wishes go out to Arthur and Beverly Stephens and Barbara and Melvin Stininger.

The next meeting of Golden Age will be held on Thursday, Aug. 25. The Tallapoosa Bluegrass and Gospel group will present a musical program.

The meeting begins at 11 a.m.
