RCAC: New art classes slated for children; August dates set

A full calendar of activities for the kids is scheduled at Rockmart Cultural Arts Center during the next several weeks. These include: Saturday Craft - Along! Aug. 20, 2016 (10 – 11:30 a.m.). You can create a pouch or purse with duct tape! $15 per person. Please bring your own duct tape. (2-3 rolls)

Saturday Paint - Along! Aug. 27, 2016 (10 – 11:30 a.m.) Create a pool, close-up canvas painting of a dragon eye! $15 per person, materials are included.

Exhibition The exhibit will be held from Aug. 19 to Oct. 22, 2016. The Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

An Artists’ Opening Reception is scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016. You are invited to meet the artists, view the exhibit, and listen to scripture reading set to music by Steve Sedberry. Refreshments will be served. Casual attire. Everyone invited to attend.

Featured artists are Melissa Battles, Lura Camp, Jim Carroll, Paul Craighead, Jane Dunn, Anna Flores, Ken “Blacktop” Gentle, R. Lynn Harrison, James Hill, Darius Norman, Angela Olson, Laura Robinson, Dede Spinks, Erwin Spinner, Valencia Stonewall, Susan Waters, and Horton Young.

Calling for Artists RCAC Visual Arts Committee is seeking 18+ artists for the annual “Holiday Gift Shop”. Entries are for crafts, any medium, any art. This is an opportunity for artists to sell their art for the holidays in the RCAC Art Gallery. Deadline for submissions is October 7, 2016. For a prospectus, email request to rcac@ rockmart-ga.gov.
