One killed, one in­jured in wreck on High­way 27 south of Cedar­town

One per­son was killed and an­other hos­pi­tal­ized in a wreck south of Cedar­town late last week, ac­cord­ing to Ge­or­gia State Pa­trol of­fi­cials.

Their press of­fice re­leased that Daniel Lee Clackum, 29, of Cedar­town was killed and Allen Dale Dostart, 28, of Cedar­town was in­jured and taken to Floyd Med­i­cal Cen­ter by Red­mond EMS af­ter the pair, trav­el­ing south­bound in the left lane in a black GMC pickup truck, struck a dump truck that changed lanes in front of them on Sept. 9 around 6:40 a.m.

Clackum was pro­nounced dead on the scene at 7:20 a.m. ac­cord­ing to Polk County Coro­ner Tony Bra­zier.

The driver of the dump truck Jef­fery David McCray, 59, of Buchanan, was un­in­jured.

Ac­cord­ing to the press of­fice’s state­ment, the Ge­or­gia State Pa­trol’s Spe­cial Col­li­sion Re­con­struc­tion Team is still in­ves­ti­gat­ing the morn­ing wreck.
