Mrs. Kather­ine Jean Hooks Gain­ous, age 84, of Cedar­town, passed away on Tues­day, Sept. 20, 2016.

She was born on Aug. 11, 1932, the daugh­ter of the late Fred and An­nie West­more­land Hooks.

Mrs. Gain­ous is sur­vived by her daugh­ters and son-in-law, Fredaleen Camp and Re­nee Mitchell and Keith; brother, Robert “Bobby” Hooks; grand­chil­dren, Amy Chris­tian (Buck), Ryan Small­wood (Sharon) and Derek Small­wood and great-grand­chil­dren, Levi Chris­tian, Colby Chris­tian, Cor­bey Small­wood and Kayla Small­wood.

Mrs. Gain­ous is pre­ceded in death by her par­ents; hus­band, Wil­lis Ned Gain­ous and brother, Mar­ion Hooks.

A grave­side ser­vice for Mrs. Kather­ine Jean Hooks Gain­ous was con­ducted on Fri­day, Sept. 23, 2016 at 3:30 p.m. at Sun­rise Memo­rial Gar­dens (3721 Bankhead High­way, Dou­glasville, Ga., 30135) with Pas­tor Neil Wil­liams of­fi­ci­at­ing.

The fam­ily of Mrs. Gain­ous re­ceived fam­ily and friends on the evening of Thurs­day, Sept. 22, 2016 at the Gam­mage Fu­neral Home.

The fam­ily of Mrs. Gain­ous re­quested that flow­ers are to be omit­ted and do­na­tions can be made to Hey­man Hospice of Floyd, 255 West 5th Street, Rome, Ga., 30161.

The fol­low­ing gentle­men will serve as pall­bear­ers: Ryan Small­wood, Derek Small­wood, Levi Chris­tian, Colby Chris­tian, Cor­bey Small­wood and Keith Mitchell.
