The pub­lic is in­vited to at­tend th­ese ser­vices.

The grand open­ing of Play­ful Par­ties and Events, 512 E. Gib­son St. in Cedar­town will be held from noon un­til 4 p.m. Satur­day, Oct. 1, 2016.

It is open to the pub­lic with an in­vi­ta­tion to come see the space, let the kids play and book your child’s next party. Re­fresh­ments will be served and items will be given away.

Rock­mart Amer­i­can Le­gion Post 12 has an­nounced the fol­low­ing:

New mem­bers ( Le­gion and Aux­il­iary) are in­vited to at­tend the reg­u­lar meet­ing and din­ner at 7 p.m. each sec­ond Tues­day.

The pub­lic is in­vited to all you can eat spaghetti din­ner from 5:30 to 8 p.m. the third Tues­day of each month. The Le­gion Riders gather for a meet­ing and din­ner at 7 p.m. each fourth Tues­day.

On Oct. 8, 2016, the Ladies Aux­il­iary will host a pub­lic in­door yard sale. Ta­bles will be for rent at $10. Do­na­tions will be ac­cepted.

The an­nual Hal­loween cos­tume party be­gins at 8 p.m. Fri­day, Oct. 28.

Fam­ily day will be held on Nov. 12 and the an­nual Le­gion Riders steak din­ner is sched­uled on De­cem­ber 10 with a New Year’s Eve Party sched­uled on De­cem­ber 31. The pub­lic is in­vited and tick­ets are avail­able at Post 12.

The Cham­ber of Com­merce’s Board of Di­rec­tors plans to meet from 4 to 5 p.m. Wed­nes­day, Oct. 19, 2016 at One Door Polk, 424 N. Main St. in Cedar­town.

Cel­e­brate Re­cov­ery con­tin­ues to meet in the First Bap­tist Church of Rock­mart, 311 E. Elm St., Mon­day nights with din­ner at 6 p.m. A large group gath­ers at 7 p.m. and small share group at 8:00 p.m.

The an­nual Vet­er­ans Memo­rial Ser­vice will be held at 10 a.m. Satur­day, Oct. 8 at his­toric Van Wert Church and Ceme­tery, lo­cated at 100 Church St. in Van Wert near Rock­mart.

The Euharlee Valley His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety uses re-en­ac­tors to pay trib­ute to the many mil­i­tary vet­er­ans who were laid to rest in the church ceme­tery. In ad­di­tion to Civil War-era graves, the ceme­tery also is the fi­nal rest­ing place of vet­er­ans of the first and sec­ond world wars and other con­flicts.

The 2016 Fid­dlin’ Fest Be­tween the Rivers is a blue­grass street fes­ti­val in Down­town Rome. It will fea­ture clas­si­cal sounds of blue­grass mu­sic from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Satur­day, Oct. 15, 2016.

Alzheimer’s As­so­ci­a­tion Care­giver Sup­port Group in Polk meets the first Mon­day of each month at First Bap­tist Church of Rock­mart, 311 E. Elm Street. The fa­cil­i­ta­tor is April Wil­liams. For more in­for­ma­tion about this group, call April Wil­liams at 770-546-5188.

The Sit N’Stitch craft group meets each Wed­nes­day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Fel­low­ship Hall at Rock­mart First United Methodist Church, 135 West Church Street, Rock­mart GA 30153.

All crafters are wel­come to come and work on your own projects or help out with var­i­ous lo­cal mis­sion projects, as they be­come needed. Bring a sack lunch or just come when you want and leave as you need to.

Cale­do­nia Ma­sonic Lodge at 932 North Main Street will be hold­ing a Hal­loween Trunk or Treat from 5 to 8 p.m. Oc­to­ber 31, 2016.

This will be the first time the lodge has ever hosted this kind of event.

Down­town Cedar­town Trick or Treat will be held from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Oc­to­ber 31, 2016. The cos­tume con­test will be­gin at 5:30 p.m. in front of Court­house No. 2.

The 39th an­nual Fall Fes­ti­val will be held in Down­town Cedar­town from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 1, 2016.

The Ki­wa­nis 5K be­gins at 8 a.m. at the Wel­come Cen­ter on the Sil­ver Comet Trail. The Shriner’s Pa­rade starts at 10 a.m. and the Cedar­town Hu­mane So­ci­ety Dog Show be­gins at 11 a.m. in front of the park at the cor­ner of Main and East Ware Street.

There will be many art and craft ven­dors to shop with and a va­ri­ety of food ven­dors to choose from. The lo­cal mer­chants will be open, as well.

The lo­cal veg­etable mar­ket opened at 6:30 a.m. Tues­day, June 28, 2016 in Peek Park in Cedar­town. The mar­ket will be open from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Tues­day and Fri­day or un­til the veg­eta­bles is sold.

The lo­cal Board of Elec­tions has an­nounced meet­ings in 2016 will fol­low this sched­ule: Oc­to­ber 11, 10 a.m. Novem­ber 14 and 3 p.m. De­cem­ber 9.

Th­ese meet­ings will be held in the Elec­tions Of­fice Con­fer­ence Room, 144 W. Ave., Suite D, in Cedar­town.

Polk County Board of Health has an­nounced its 2016 meet­ing sched­ule in the Polk County Health De­part­ment, 125 E. Ware St., Cedar­town: Nov. 10, 2016.

Polk / Har­al­son Chris­tian Life Cen­ter (Camp An­ti­och) con­tin­ues a sum­mer and fall sched­ule of events for adults and chil­dren.

Soup and “Sav­ior”, a lo­cal non-profit or­ga­ni­za­tion, meets from 6 to 7 p.m. Tues­days to pro­vide needed items to de­serv­ing peo­ple.

“Re­vival Fire” is the ti­tle of a pre­sen­ta­tion by Charles G. Gar­rett, which is fea­tured on Char­ter Chan­nel 181 at 9 p.m. ev­ery Sun­day night. He said this is his 17th year in Polk County.
