Rockmart remains on a roll, wins over Dade
The Rockmart Yellow Jackets remain on a winning streak, coming out of their latest road trip with a win over Dade County and advancing to 4-1 on the season, and 2-0 in Region 7-AA.
The Jackets held Dade scoreless through four quarters and racked up a 42-0 win up in Trenton.
Rockmart’s latest win already puts them well past where the Jackets were in 2015 in terms of wins. They finished 2-8 on the season and 1-4 in Region 5-AAA. Their only wins came against North Murray and Haralson County in 2015.
This year, the Jackets have so far only lost to cross county rival Cedartown, who moved out of Class AAA as well in the off-season.
Racking up early season wins over Cherokee County, Ala., Woodland and Armuchee, the Jackets are on track to keep up their winning streak in 7AA as they come back home to host Chattooga this Friday.
The 3-2 Indians are coming off a pair of wins themselves having traveled to Coosa for a 48-14 win and hosting Gordon Central for a 63-8 win. Their pair of losses came at the hands of Dawson County and Ridgeland in back to back weeks at the start of September.
Rockmart will get a break after this final game of the month for Oct. 7, when they’ll take a bye-week before facing off against their last four opponents in the region, heading to Pepperell on Oct. 14 and Coosa on Oct. 20 in back to back road games, then hosting Gordon Central for Senior Night on Oct. 28 before finishing the season on Nov. 4 at Model.
