Honoring Breast Cancer Awareness Month
It is unlikely these days that every person in Polk County, young and old, doesn’t have a connection to the battler against breast cancer. More than 200,000 cases are diganosed each year, and thousands more die from the disease.
We here at the Polk County Standard Journal have our own stories, of friends and family members who have been through surgeries and chemotherapy, been pronounced survivors after years of doctors visits or now live on in memory as loved ones lost their fight against cancer.
This month, more than any other, should remind us all of the great cost that we have incurred over the years in the fight against Breast Cancer, and remind us all that it’s not just one kind of cancer that we should be concerned about, but all. Support research into cures, help those who are sick and in need. Most importantly, never forget. -KM
