Rockmart’s second annual Riverwalk Festival coming this weekend

- From Staff Reports

The autumn leaves might not be changing yet, but the bank of Euharlee Creek is expected to get busy this weekend for the annual Riverwalk festival, which might have a big surprise for the finale this year.

The second annual 2016 Riverwalk Festival, is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, 2116.

The festival is planned to provide people of all ages a stroll through the past and present by showcasing the art and craftsmanship of local and regional artists, along with a number of different events.

This year, a number of new activities are planned. This includes a Ferris wheel that will be placed near the Silver Comet Trailhead. Although the festival is free, a $1 donation per person will be accepted for rides on this attraction. A pet parade is also being held, and those interested can get in touch with Teresa Hager at 678-230-2100 for more information about how to participate.

Arts and crafts will include woodworking, jewelry, pottery, face painting, wreaths, penworks, soaps and special entertainment for the kids with inflatables that will get their attention.

Planners also have a surprise in store for residents, if the permits cleared earlier in the week to allow it.

The annual festival, which started in 2015, is sponsored by local businesses as part of an effort to bring more events to downtown Rockmart.
