The lo­cal Board of Elec­tions has an­nounced meet­ings in 2016 will fol­low this sched­ule: Oc­to­ber 11, 10 a.m. Novem­ber 14 and 3 p.m. De­cem­ber 9. These meet­ings will be held in the Elec­tions Of­fice Con­fer­ence Room, 144 W. Ave., Suite D, in Ce-dar­town.

The Polk County Board of Ed­u­ca­tion is set to meet for their reg­u­lar ses­sion on Oct. 18, 2016. Visit www.polk.k12.ga.us for more in­for­ma­tion about the up­com­ing meet­ing and an agenda.

The City of Cedar­town will hold their up­com­ing com­mis­sion work ses­sion and com­mis­sion reg­u­lar meet­ings on Nov. 7 and Nov. 14, 2016.

The Rock­mart City Coun­cil will meet on Nov. 8, 2016 at 7 p.m. for their reg­u­lar meet­ing. Visit rock­mart-ga.gov for more in­for­ma­tion.

Polk County will hold a pub­lic meet­ing on Oc­to­ber 20, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Polk County Emer­gency man­age­ment and Fire Depart­ment head­quar­ters to re­view and dis­cuss a draft of an up­date to the Polk County Haz­ard Mit­i­ga­tion Plan. This Plan is re­quired by the Disas­ter Mit­i­ga­tion Act of 2000.

Polk County Board of Health will meet on Nov. 10, 2016 for their up­com­ing ses­sion at the Polk County Health Depart­ment, 125 E. Ware St., Cedar­town.

The Polk County Board of Tax As­ses­sors meets the first Tues­day of each month, at 9 a.m. lo­cated in the Polk County Ad­min­is­tra­tion Build­ing-Suite F. Their com­ing meet­ing is set to be held on Nov. 1, 2016.

The His­toric Van Wert Church, built in 1846, is in need of ex­ten­sive restora­tion projects, and since 2005 a con­cerned group of lo­cal res­i­dents have taken on the project and are in need of ad­di­tional fi­nan­cial as­sis­tance.
