The local Board of Elections has announced meetings in 2016 will follow this schedule: October 11, 10 a.m. November 14 and 3 p.m. December 9. These meetings will be held in the Elections Office Conference Room, 144 W. Ave., Suite D, in Ce-dartown.
The Polk County Board of Education is set to meet for their regular session on Oct. 18, 2016. Visit www.polk.k12.ga.us for more information about the upcoming meeting and an agenda.
The Polk County Board of Commissioners will hold their upcoming work session on Nov. 7 at 5:15 p.m. and their regular November meeting on Nov. 8, 2016 at 7 p.m. Visit Polkgeorgia. org for more information. Changes were made following the last edition to the schedule
The City of Cedartown will hold their upcoming commission work session and commission regular meetings on Nov. 7 and Nov. 14, 2016.
The Rockmart City Council will meet on Nov. 8, 2016 at 7 p.m. for their regular meeting. Visit rockmart-ga.gov for more information.
Polk County will hold a public meeting on October 20, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Polk County Emergency management and Fire Department headquarters to review and discuss a draft of an update to the Polk County Hazard Mitigation Plan. This Plan is required by the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000.
Polk County Board of Health will meet on Nov. 10, 2016 for their upcoming session at the Polk County Health Department, 125 E. Ware St., Cedartown.
The Polk County Board of Tax Assessors meets the first Tuesday of each month, at 9 a.m. located in the Polk County Administration Building-Suite F. Their coming meeting is set to be held on Nov. 1, 2016.

The Historic Van Wert Church, built in 1846, is in need of extensive restoration projects, and since 2005 a concerned group of local residents have taken on the project and are in need of additional financial assistance.
