Holiday gift shop opens Friday in Rockmart
Rockmart's Holiday Gift Shop is opening up on Friday for the first time, and will be open Fridays and Saturdays through until just before Christmas as it comes to a close in December.
Artists from the local area are showcasing their wares which can make the perfect gift for the holiday season at the RCAC Art Gallery at 316 N. Piedmont Ave. in Rockmart, more commonly described as "behind the Rockmart library."
An opening reception is being held on Nov. 5 from 1 to 3 p.m.
Santa and local photographer Carla Redding will be on site for kids of all ages to take a photo with, and locals can meet the artists and browse the selection while enjoying refreshments.
Featured artists this year include Melissa Battles, Madison Baxley, Margaret Bearden, Melissa Cook, Paul Craighead, Christina Gault, Shelby Grafton, Brenda Hembree, Anita Kennerley, Latasha King, Jackie Morris, Dede Spinks, Kristin Stone, Terumi Todd, Teddy Yarbrough, and more.
Rockmart community chorus
Director Debbie Miller and Rockmart Community Chorus members are rehearsing every Tuesday evening for their annual Christmas concert. This year’s title is “Christmas… A Time of Celebration”.
Two opportunities to attend are Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 7:00 PM and Sunday, December 4, 2016 at 2:00 PM. The concert will be held in The Arts Center Theatre, 116 East Elm Street, Rockmart.

2016 Rockmart Christmas parade is still on tap
Save the date for the 2016 Rockmart Christmas Parade, which is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. with a rain date of Saturday, Dec. 3 at 4 p.m.

Art classes coming up:
Preregister now for Lightroom 5 classes with Instructor Carla Redding of RCAC. She is offering “Lightroom 5” classes beginning Nov. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. The class will meet each Thursday, with the exception of Thanksgiving week, at the same time for four weeks in the Rockmart Cultural Arts Center.

Art lessons for and teens continues as instructor Margaret Bearden provides another week of fun for all.

Classes are held in the City of Rockmart Government Complex, Cultural Arts Center (RCAC), behind Rockmart Library 316 N. Piedmont Ave., Bldg. 300, Rockmart. The upcoming Saturday paint along features a canvas and owls.
Saturday Sew-Along! coming up on Nov. 19, 2016 for 10 – 11:30 a.m. features a fun design in the coming month. Learn to sew while creating an owl pillow.

Pottery with instructor Paul Craighead continues as the Open Studio Pottery is open to all ages.
Pottery Studio is housed in the lower level of Rockmart Cultural Arts Center, behind the Rockmart Library.
The class meets year round with the exception of holidays and summer camps.
Fee includes instruction, materials, equipment, glazing, firing, and fun.
Classes meet Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. for $15, and Thursdays, 10 to 11:30 a.m. for $12.
Learn to use the pottery wheel and other techniques. Register upon arrival.
