Christmas tree contest coming to Cedartown

The Downtown Cedartown Association is inviting local businesses and organizations to participate in a new holiday contest to help make the season bright on Main Street.
Starting on the week of Nov. 21, Christmas trees will be going up on Main Street for the First Annual Christmas Tree Contest in Cedartown.
"We invite and encourage all businesses, schools, churches, non-profit organizations, individuals/ families to participate," said Ramona Ruark of the Downtown Cedartown Association. "This contest is a great way to decorate our Downtown area for the Christmas season."
Monetary prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.
All participants must complete an entry form, which can be downloaded from the downtowncedartown.com home page link or picked up at the Cedartown Welcome Center.
Entry forms must be turned in at the Welcome Center, faxed to 770-749-5346 or e-mailed to rruark@downtowncedartown.com.
Ruark asks if entry forms are e-mailed or faxed to call 770-748-2090 to confirm to ensure the form has been received.
Locations will be assigned to each entry, once the form is received.
Christmas trees are to be placed in their assigned locations between Monday, Nov. 21 and Monday, Nov. 28, and will remain on display through Saturday, December 31st.
"As part of your Christmas tree display, be sure to make a sign with the name of your business, group, school/class, church, organization, and individual/ family," Ruark said. "Your sign should be no larger than 8 1/2 x 11 inches. No advertising or political statements allowed."
Entries will be judged by the public through the following two ways: by visiting the downtowncedartown.com webpage and voting or by completing a voting form at the Cedartown Welcome Center, located at 609 South Main Street.
Voting will be begin Thursday, Dec. 1 and continue through Thursday, Dec. 8. Winners will be announced by Wednesday, Dec. 14.
