Ninth arrest comes in drug sting
A ninth person was arrested on a slew of felony drug charges last week as a result of a months-long undercover operation by the Rome- Floyd Metro Task Force.
Lucas Lorenzo Waddell, 34, of 503 Brown St. in Rome, is facing 10 felony charges each of sale of methamphetamine, possession of meth and possession of meth with intent to distribute after he was taken into custody on Jan. 25.
Sgt. William Schwartz with the task force said Waddell’s arrest stems from the investigation last year. It started in April and ended Dec. 1 with a round- up and charges filed against eight people.
“There are still two oth- ers the ( Floyd County) Sheriff’s Office is looking for,” Schwartz said.
According to warrants, police reports and jail records, Waddell is accused of selling methamphetamine to“a reliable cooperating witness” on 10 separate occasions between April 8 and Sept. 14.
The sales took place at various convenience stores around the county.
