Young lawyers group forms in West Georgia counties
ATLANTA — In its General Session on Friday, Jan. 20, the State Bar of Georgia’s Young Lawyers Division approved the petition of the West Georgia Young Lawyers’ Association to become affiliated with the Georgia YLD by unanimous voice vote.
The West Georgia Young Lawyers’ Association was formed on Jan. 5 by attorneys from Carroll, Douglas, Haralson, Paulding, and Polk Counties who are 40 years or younger or practicing law for 10 years or less.
Matthew Momtahan of Dallas and Villa Rica was voted the Association’s Interim President and John Overocker of Carrollton was voted the Association’s Interim Secretary.
The Association’s Petition to become affiliated with the Georgia YLD was signed by Momtahan, Bethaney Embry Jones of Douglasville, and Seth Hansard of Bremen.
The Association aims to promote the betterment of the legal profession among its members and in the community at large through the fostering of cooperation among its members and service to the public.
The Association will conduct its Annual Meeting in May to elect full term officers.
