Bowdon man jailed on homicide, DUI charge
A Temple man was killed in an ATV wreck over the weekend on Treat Mountain according to Polk County deputy coroner Marty Robinson.
Robinson said t hat Bread Eugene Shead, 32, of a Temple address, died of massive head injuries after the all terrain vehicle got caught in ruts and flipped several times. Shead was pronounced dead Sunday morning, Jan. 29 at 2:05 a.m. on the scene, Robinson said.
According to booking information at the Polk County Jail, Georgia State Patrol charged Joshua Robert Sparks, 31, of Bowdon, with felony homicide by vehicle in first degree and driving under the influence of alcohol.
He was released in jail on a $12,100 bond.
Georgia State Patrol officials reported the pair were on a Polaris Razor ATV on Treat Mountain when it flipped around 12:40 a.m. on Jan. 29.
The Specialized Collision Recovery Team was continuing t heir f ollow-up investigation last week on the wreck.
