Cedartown man accused of having crack cocaine in Rome

A Cedartown man was jailed last week without bond after being accused of having crack cocaine.

According t o Floyd County Jail reports:

Brett Ronald Johnson, 26, of 554 Huntington Road, was arrested Feb. 15 at 10:05 a.m. on East Main Street after the car he was a passenger in was stopped for having a cracked windshield.

Police found crack cocaine and marijuana in the car and Johnson said the drugs belonged to him.

Johnson is charged with felony possession of crack cocaine and misdemeano­r possession of marijuana.

Police: Man distribute­d explicit video of minor

A Rockmart man remained in jail last week without bond after being accused of having and distributi­ng an explicit video of a minor.

According t o Floyd County Jail reports:

Mark Andrew Jones, 48, of G15 Gate Drive, was arrested Feb. 15 on warrants stating he distribute­d a video of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Jones is charged with felony possession or control of any material depicting a minor in sexually explicit conduct.

Deputy charged with child molestatio­n

DALTON — A sheriff’s deputy has been placed on l eave after being charged with child molestatio­n in north Georgia.

The Daily Citizen reported last week that Justin Litzenberg, a deputy with the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, was arrested Thursday at his apartment in Dalton.

Litzenberg was charged in nearby Bartow County with child molestatio­n, false imprisonme­nt and cruelty to a child. It was not immediatel­y known if he had an attorney.

Bus wreck injures 8 kids, 3 adults

DALLAS — Authoritie­s in northwest Georgia say a collision involving a day care bus sent eight children and three adults to hospitals.

Lt. Steve Mapes with Paulding County Fire and Rescue said in an email that the wreck between the day care bus and a pickup truck happened about 7:30 a.m. Friday in Dallas, about 30 miles northwest of Atlanta.

Mapes said eight children between the ages of 6 and 10 suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital.
