Rockmart holds on for playoff win
Fans sat at the edge of their seats as they watched the Rockmart Yellow Jackets pull through a nail biting game with a win in the opening round of the state tournament over the weekend.
Playing against the Spencer Green Waves, the Jackets won by only a slim margin, with a final score 49-47.
Though Rockmart found themselves with in a drought at the line shooting for free throws on the night, Avery Allen dropped a pair of threes in the bucket to pull the Jackets out of a rut and into the next round of state playoffs.
This game showed off the team work of the Jackets, featuring sev- en different players off the bench who scored over 5 points for the collective win.
Top shooters on the night were Morgan Sims with 13 points followed by Avery Allen with 8 points.
“We played really well first half, and had a really bad second half. But we found a way to pull it out,” said head coach Kyle Stephens after Saturday’s win.
