Rockmart boys tennis team gets season opening win

The Rockmart Tennis team is off to a good start for the 2017 season.

Rockmart boys tennis team defeated Rome 4-1 on Feb. 16 in their season debut.

Rockmart won all three singles, with Koby Adams taking a 3 set wi 6-0, 6-7, 6-4.

Timothy Malone won 6-3, 6-3, and Jackson Norris won 6-2, 6-1.

Rockmart and Rome split the doubles match- es with Bennett Vest and Austyn Shelton losing a close match, 7-6, 7-6.

Hunter England and Russell Head won 6-1, 6-3 at line 2 doubles.

The girls came up short in their season opener losing a close match 3-2.

Rockmart were set to play Pepperrell at Georgia Highlands on Feb. 21, and will play Model at The Rome Tennis Center at Berry on Feb. 23.

The first home contest of the year will be Feb. 27 against Armuchee.
