Suspect sought in cemetery homicide

Polk County Police and the GBI are still seeking informatio­n in the April 4 death of Tammy Chambers Wolfe.

Family and friends laid Tammy Chambers Wolfe to rest last week while police were still seeking i nformation and evidence that will lead to an arrest in Wolfe’s murder.

Polk County Police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigat­ion are still seeking a suspect, according to Polk County Police Chief Kenny Dodd.

He said that police were still gathering evidence in the case at the end of last week, but had no further informatio­n to provide at the time.

Wolfe, 50, was born in Rome but had lived all of her life in Polk County. She had been employed by Davis Core and Pad Company for the past 14 years.

A memorial service was held for Wolfe on Friday, April 14.

She left behind two children, three grandchild­en, her parents and many other relatives.

Police are hoping the public will help out with informatio­n, specifical­ly if anyone happen to notice anyone coming in or out of Polk Memory Gardens on April 4 between 6 and 7 a.m.

Staff at the cemetery told police they first noticed the vehicle on the day the body was found around 9 a.m., but didn’t become suspicious about the car which Wolfe was found dead until later in the day.
