Voter registrati­on for the upcoming November municipal election is ongoing and ends on Oct. 10, 2017 for those who wish to participat­e in municipal elections on November 7, 2017. The Court Appointed Special Advocate of Haralson and Polk County needs your help today in making sure that foster children have positive influences in their life and to help the best interests of our community’s youth. The Polk County Board of Education is set to meet for their upcoming regular session on Aug. 8, 2017 at 6 p.m. in the Board of Education meeting room located at the Polk School District Central Office in downtown Cedartown at 612 S. The Cedartown City Commission meets for their work sessions on the first Monday of each month, and then for their regular session the following Monday at 6 p.m., unless otherwise noted. Check out Cedartowng­eorgia.gov to find agendas for upcoming meetings set for the Aug. 7 and Aug. 14 sessions.

The Polk County Board of Elections were set to hold their next meeting on Aug. 8, 2017 at the Elections and Registrati­on office at the Polk Coun- ty administra­tion offices at 144 West Ave., Cedartown. Call 770-749-2103 for more informatio­n.

The Polk County Board of Commission­ers voted to approve their next meeting dates for Sept. 11, 2017 for the work session at 5:15 p.m., and Sept. 12, 2017 at 7 p.m. for their regular session. The board voted to move the dates that would have conflicted with the Labor Day holiday.

Qualifying for upcoming municipal elections is being held Aug. 21 through Aug. 25 for seats in Aragon, Rockmart and Cedartown, and the Polk County Board of Education’s District 6 seat. Each city and the school board sets their own guidelines within their city charter for becoming a candidate, and qualifying fees apply.
