Mrs. Willie McClung Bishop, age 87, of Buchanan, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday morning, Aug. 1, 2017 after declining health.

She was born in Haralson County to the late Samuel E and Willie Davis McClung on May 28, 1930. Her devotion and firm faith in God has served as a comfort to her family during this time of loss.

Mrs. Bishop was blessed with a large, loving family. She was a 1947 graduate of Buchanan High School.

She married her best friend, Denver Ray Bishop, on Aug. 30, 1947 and resided in Atlanta. They returned to Haralson County with their 5 children in 1964 where she lived out her life in the Mountain View Community.

She labored as a homemaker and on their farm and served her community in many ways over the years. She worked as a substitute teacher for the Haralson County School system and formally served her community as a poll leader in the Mountain View Community for 50 years.

She also ministered to others through her delicious cooking, gardening, canning and serving others through her dedication to her church and family.

Her gift of hospitalit­y was known all over the county.

Mrs. Bishop is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Otis, Foster, and Charles McClung, sisters, Laura Lee, Marie Beauford, and Lorene Coalson.

She is survived by her husband, Denver, their children Sandra and Ray Tant of Buchanan, Danny and Sherry Bishop of Buchanan, Robbie and Reggie Fennell of Rockmart, Rhonda and Terry Heuer of Buchanan, and Reba and David Demers of Buchanan; eight grandchild­ren and nine great grandchild­ren. She is also survived by two sisters, Janie Derelle Johnson of Douglasvil­le and Julia Ann Johnson of Buchanan.

Services were conducted on Thursday, Aug. 3 at 2 p.m. from Mt. Zion East Missionary Baptist Church, with internment in church cemetery.

Bro. Kenny Teal and Bro. Buddy Gentry officiated. Pallbearer­s were Heath Dunn and grandsons Denver and Justin Lett, Daniel Bishop, Ben and Josh Heuer.

The family received friends at Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel on Wednesday evening, Aug. 2, 2017.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Mt Zion East Missionary Baptist Building Fund, 1335 Mt. Zion East Rd, Buchanan, Ga., 30113.
