Soli's continues to serve up solid sandwiches

- SJ Correspondent By SEAN WILLIAMS

Every small town needs a sandwich shop.

There's nothing quite like heading downtown and having your favorite ingredients slapped bet ween t wo pieces of bread by a fellow sandwich connoisseur, and not only do sandwiches taste great, sandwich shops are absolutely pivotal for the culture of small towns.

Thankfully for Rockmart citizens, Soli's exists.

Operating from 115 S. Marble St., Soli's runs under head manager Sohel Hakim and has been staying true to their slogan of soups, salads, and sandwiches for nearly two years now.

Soli's sandwiches are made to order and customers get to decide each and every ingredient on their meal.

The store's meats and cheese are Board Head brand, and every type of produce imaginable can be found inside. Nothing compliments a sandwich like condiments and Soli's has all the standards including mayonnaise, mustard, chipolata, and more.

Those itching for a bowl of soup will find a different flavor being served every day i ncluding Boar's Head Chili, Chicken Tequila, Cream of Potato, Parmesan Kale with sausage, Chicken Thai Rice, Roasted Pabalano Pepper Soup, and more. The soups rotate every day, but don't fret if you miss a day because fan favorite soups often make a return.

The abundance of produce and healthy ingredients in the store are important for Soli's restaurant vision.

"I'm not really a fan of any fast food,” regarded Hakim. "I wanted to do something healthy and high quality. That's why I offer a cover of soups and salads.”

For those unfamiliar, Boar's Head is a major brand that offers high quality meats and cheeses. For soups and salads, i ngredients are kept fresh and various herbs and spices are used.

Regulars to the store may have heard about the owner's operation and kidney donation, but several months later and Hakim is as good as ever.

"It t urned out very well,” said Hakim. “I'm not on medication and I'm not having trouble running the restaurant.”

Considering how well off the owner and the restaurant itself are, the restaurant will be around for a long time to come. Hakim shared that for now he wants “the restaurant to stay the same.” “So far we haven't had any customer complaints and have only had 5 star reviews.” If the restaurant under goes any changes in the future Hakim mentioned that it would still be centered around “healthy and high quality foods.”

Sol i ' s is t he o nl y Rockmart sandwich shop of its kind, besides the chain restaurant Subway. Ordering a sandwich from a business that is Rockmart exclusive is simply more satisfying than getting a sandwich available all over the country, and it builds into the morale of the city to eat something only available in one's home.
