Aragon approves hiring of new staff members

- From staff reports

The city of Aragon made the hire of new employees official with the city council’s unanimous approval of a trio of staff members.

Aragon’s Building Inspection and Code Enforcement officer Josh Ozment will get additional duties for the city and be brought on full time, performing maintenance tasks for city facilities.

He joined the city earlier this year to fill the position as part time. His main duties will be helping conduct repairs at Aragon-owned facilities.

Joining Ozment as a new hire is Logan Harp, a new full time employee for the city who is filling an open position with the city.

Public Works Superintendent Daniel Johnson said that the city has an additional position open for the department for those interested.

He lost an employee in the past weeks and hopes to have a candidate to fill the roll and be approved by the city council during their September meeting.

Also on staff now is Lindy Fairel, the new full time finance clerk for the city. She’ll be responsible for taking city payments, keeping up with bank deposits and general clerical duties.

Fairel is also serving as the city’s deputy court clerk, serving alongside Amy Liggons who took on that role after city clerk Christie Langston was appointed to her position in past months.

She’ll supplement the work being done by the city’s financial consultant Rick Hartley, who oversees the city’s budget and keeps up with the monthly statements.

The new hires and Ozment’s promotion to full time are the latest hires the city has made in the past months, which included new police officers on a full and part time basis, and part time summer staff to help with public works.
