Ward earns Eagle Scout rank
Bremen’s Spencer A. Ward, the son of Bremen’s Neil and Robyn Ward, has achieved the highest Boy Scouts rank: Eagle Scout.
Ward was a member of the Buchanan VFW sponsored Boy Scout Troop 371 where he served under the leadership of Scoutmaster Shane Gray.
The now Eagle Scout began his scouting career as a Tiger Cub with Pack 371 and continued with Cub Scouting to achieve the Arrow of Light- the highest Tiger Cub award-before crossing over to Troop 376.
During his time in the scouts, Ward held several troop positions including assistant patrol leader, patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, and senior patrol leader. The faithful scout was later inducted into the Eqwa Tawa Dee Lodge of the Order of the Arrow in 2013 before earning brotherhood membership in 2014.
To earn the rank of Eagle Scout, participants must earn at least 21 merit badges (Ward has 40) and demonstrate leadership and community service by organizing and carrying out Eagle Projects.
For his Eagle Project, Ward built a retaining wall and pad to hold veterans memorial bricks of the Buchana VFW. He coordinated a work crew that leveled the ground area and poured gravel to make it level and sturdy.
Under his direction, both scouts and adult volunteers worked on the 100 hour long project. Ward has enlisted in the Marine Corps.
Spencer Ward’s grandparents are: Melody Parks of Buchanan, and Larry and Joan Kohl of Bremen, and Bob and Cathy Smith of Cedartown.
