The Standard Journal - - LOCAL - By Sean Williams

Thanks to R&R Catering, Cedartown finally has a restaurant dedicated to soul food, and owner Rodneshia Fife is looking to supply your next wedding, graduation, anniversary, or social event with various southern dishes.

The store is open on Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. through 6 p.m., and those looking to eat at R&R in person can visit at 1194 East Ave. Delivery is available for those within the Polk or Floyd County areas, but patrons will be charged a $ 3 delivery free unless they order 3 or more meals.

Floyd County orders must be made 24 hours in advance, and orders can be placed by calling 706-676-8707.

The restaurant is unique in that the menu changes every month, and each day of the week has its own recurring menu items for that month. Regulars will have new dishes to try constantly

“The menu changes monthly, so it’ll be the same Tuesday through Friday every week,” Fife said.

“And then in February, I’ll switch it up, and I might change out the meats, or on a certain day I’ll change out the sides. It’ll always be soul food.”

For example, January’s Monday menu offers an entree choice of fried wings or barbecue ribs, a choice of two sides including macaroni and cheese, yams, collards, and barbecue baked beans, a bread choice between rolls and jalapeno cornbread, and a beverage choice between tea, lemonade, fruit punch, soda, or bottled water.

The format carries over each day, but the available items will be different.

All meals are $9 unless otherwise stated, and a daily dessert is available for an additional $3. A full menu can be found at https://www.randrcaterin- gevents.com/luncheon-anddinner. Fife has operated R& R in various locations since its creation in 2008, but the Cedartown location saw a grand opening on Nov. 7, 2017. A longtime chef, Fife’s catering began at the request of friends who enjoyed her cooking. “Stay positive during the bad times because there will be bad times. If it’s your passion, then stick with it and stay positive,” Fife said of running a restaurant.
