Dar­ling­ton edges Mt. Zion on road

The Dar­ling­ton boys’ bas­ket­ball team re­cov­ered from be­ing down by seven at half­time of Satur­day’s Re­gion 6-A/A tilt with Mt. Zion to win 67-63 on the road.

An­drew Land hit five 3-point­ers on the way to a team-lead­ing 17 points for the Tigers (9-5, 4-1 6-A/ A). JD Hull added 16 and Bar­rick Wade scored 10.

Dar­ling­ton will host Chris­tian Her­itage on Tues­day.

In other ac­tion:

Model boys 62, Gor­don Cen­tral 39

A resched­uled trip to Cal­houn put Model back in the Re­gion 7-AA win col­umn as the Blue Devils de­feated Gor­don Cen­tral 62-39.

Jack­son Lively led Model with 19 points while Justin Roberts added 17 and Josh Smith had 14. Model (6-11, 2-6 7-AA) will travel to Coosa on Tues­day.

Pep­perell girls 49, Unity Chris­tian 37

Pep­perell’s girls stepped out of re­gion play for a con­test against Unity Chris­tian and picked up a 49-37 win in Lin­dale.

Lady Dragon Kaylee Mansell scored 11 in the first pe­riod on the way to a game-high 22 points while Josie McGraw and La­keeya Wig­gins each added eight. Alli Hard­well paced Unity with 12 points fol­lowed by Mag­gie White­head and Keri Glass with nine each.

Pep­perell (4-9) will host fel­low Re­gion 7-AA team Dade County on Tues­day.

Model girls 69, Gor­don Cen­tral 26

Vic­taria Sax­ton scored 30 points to lead the Model girls to a 69-26 blowout of Re­gion 7-AA foe Gor­don Cen­tral on the road.

Moe Welch added 10 for the Lady Blue Devils while Libby Up­ton had nine. Model ( 13- 3, 7- 0 7-AA) will be back in ac­tion Tues­day at Coosa.

Adairsville boys 67,

Ar­muchee 51

Ar­muchee’s boys’ team re­bounded from be­ing down 44- 16 at the half but couldn’t com­plete the come­back as the In­di­ans fell to Adairsville 67-51 in Bar­tow County.

Eli Brock paced Ar­muchee with 16 points in the non- re­gion con­test while Dre’Quan Cook added 13. The In­di­ans (413) will be at Chat­tooga in a Re­gion 7-AA tilt on Tues­day.

Adairsville girls 39,

Ar­muchee 37

A hard- f i ght­ing Ar­muchee girls’ team came up just short of Adairsville in a non-re­gion 39-37 loss on the road.

BrandyAnn Wacker led the Lady In­di­ans with 21 points.

Ar­muchee ( 10- 8) re­turns to Re­gion 7- AA play Tues­day with a visit to Chat­tooga.
