PCSO opens Rockmart City Hall satellite office
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office will now be offering many of their services to residents in Rockmart as local officials gathered to celebrate the opening of a new office.
Officials gathered on March 8 to hold a ribbon cutting with Moats to celebrate the opening.
Sheriff Johnny Moats said the office located within Rockmart City Hall at 316 N. Piedmont Ave. will allow residents who have business with the Sheriff’s Office to come during their business hours to receive assistance.
“My goal is to have a place where the people of Rockmart can come in with their concerns or civil issues,” he said.
Moats added that a kiosk to allow relatives or friends of inmates incarcerated within the Polk County Jail can also deposit cash into accounts.
“It’s almost like an information center for that side of the county,” Moats said. “We won’t be able to do everything there, but we’ll be able to handle a lot of the issues people come to Sheriff’s Office for at our new office.”
A secretary will be in the office weekdays from Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., along with deputies as well. The office will be closed on weekdays for lunch.
Moats said that he’ll also be setting up days where he’ll have open office hours to hear citizen concerns. He plans to announce dates on the Sheriff’s Office Facebook account and his own as well.
Polk County’s Safe Kids program will also hold classes for residents of the eastside of the county who wish to go through t raining classes and qualify for a free car seat.
