Mrs. Della June Nor­ton Brown, age 77 of Rock­mart, passed away Wed­nes­day, May 30, 2018.

Mrs. Brown was born June 29, 1940 in Bar­tow County, daugh­ter of the late Frank Hol­land Nor­ton and the late Anna Belle McCrary Nor­ton.

She was a grad­u­ate of Cass High School and a veteran of the United States Army hav­ing served from 1961-1964.

Mrs. Brown was a mem­ber of the Pleas­ant Hill Bap­tist Church of Kingston and was a home­maker.

In ad­di­tion to her par­ents, she was pre­ceded in death by three brothers; and two half-sis­ters.

Sur­vivors in­cluded her hus­band, Henry A. Brown to whom she was mar­ried Oct. 11, 1969; two daugh­ters, San­dra Brown Dunn and Ann Brown James and her com­pan­ion, Ray Tay­lor; a son, Henry Eu­gene Brown all of Rock­mart; a sis­ter, Jan­ice Wor­thing­ton of Kingston; and eleven grand­chil­dren.

Fu­neral grave­side and in­ter­ment ser­vices for Mrs. Brown were held on June 2, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the fam­ily lot of the Pleas­ant Hill Bap­tist Church Ceme­tery of Kingston with Brother Mel­ton Moss of­fi­ci­at­ing.

Free­man Har­ris Fu­neral Home was in charge of the fu­neral grave­side ser­vice for Mrs. Della June Nor­ton Brown.

Kim McBride earned her role as Polk County’s new­est Em­ployee of the Month.

The as­sis­tant co- clerk re­ceived a plaque and was hon­ored be­fore her peers dur­ing the County Com­mis­sion’s work ses­sion.

Many of the county’s most faith­ful, long-time work­ers were also given a spot­light with longevity awards.
