Man jailed in morning wreck in Cedartown
An early morning onevehicle wreck ended up being the reason a local man started off his day going to jail. It was not a good way to start off the week James Cawood Jr. of a Cedartown address after he was arrested following the incident.
No injures were reported after Cawood, who was driv- ing a 2005 GMC Canyon, struck a utility pole. He’d crossed over the center lane while he was alleged to be driving under the influence near the intersection of Canal and Main Streets according to Cedartown Assistant Police Chief Greg Cooper.
Fortunately, no one else was involved or hurt.
“It broke the pole in half,” Cooper said of the force of the wreck.
Cawood was first checked out medically at Polk Medical Center before being transported to jail, where he was charged with driving under the influence, failure to maintain lane and striking a fixed object.
He was later released after a day in jail on a $2,910 bond.
