Start of the school year means new lane changes
Top: Additional turning lane was added to the eastbound intersection on Nathan Dean Parkway at Highway 113 ahead of the start of the school year, meant as a safety measure for travelers headed to Rockmart Middle and High Schools according to Police Chief Keith Sorrells. He said the change came about after DOT noticed increased traffic during peak hours, and on home game nights for a variety of sports that backs up traffic when drivers are kept waiting to turn left for more than one light cycle. Above: Part of an intersection at Nathan Dean Parkway where drivers used to turn left toward businesses on both side of the highway was closed off as DOT officials announced they planned to do in 2017. Drivers can still turn right at the intersection off the divided four lane.
