In­de­pen­dence Day Fi­esta

An In­de­pen­dence Day Fi­esta was held at St. Ber­nadette’s Catholic Church in Cedar­town on Sun­day, Sept. 16 to cel­e­brate sev­eral coun­tries from Cen­tral Amer­ica break­ing away from colo­nial rule and be­com­ing in­de­pen­dent na­tions. Along with food and dance for the oc­ca­sion, or­ga­ni­za­tions like the Polk County DFCS took part as well. Lea Perez with her daugh­ter Ella part­nered with the church to help give out in­for­ma­tion about the need for His­panic fos­ter and adop­tive homes within the county.
