Lady Bulldogs win big on Senior Night

- Staff reports

The Cedartown Lady Bulldogs took time out to celebrate a pair of seniors slated to graduate this coming spring and who got one last regular season win in at home before a regular season closer.

The Lady Bulldogs took a 10-2 win over Sandy Creek for Senior Night and got to enjoy festivities with Tamera Beeman and Jameia Diamond as the 2018 regular season was winding down last week.

After a break following a loss to rival Rockmart and then a high scoring game that ended in a fourrun defeat on Sept. 18 on the road at Troup County 18-14, the Lady Bulldogs needed a big win.

They got it last Thursday against the Lady Patriots in a game that included a double play for Beeman, and a 2-run homer for Mary Brumby who drove in Alexus Poole.

Cedartown’s regular season concludes this Tuesday after press time with a trip to play at Chapel Hill and hopes of getting closer to even on the year, as the Lady Bulldogs sit under .500 at 8-10 overall, and 4-7 in region play.

That put as the regular season winds down this week against a 19-4 Chapel Hill team who stands at 9-1 in the region, and tied with Central for a first place spot.

The Lady Bulldogs stand tied with Cartersville at 4-7.

Chapel Hill plays Cartersville on Monday after press time, the final regular season game for the Lady Hurricanes.

Region tournament play for 5-AAAA begins on Sept. 29, and who the Lady Bulldogs will end up playing first is to be determined by the final standings.

Check back for more on where the Lady Bulldogs will be traveling online after Tuesday’s game.
