No charges in Thanksgiving cookware fight at Walmart

- Staff reports

No charges were filed against either party in a fight at the Rockmart Walmart on Thanksgiving night as the holiday shopping season got underway with a bang for two women.

An off-duty officer working security for the event reported the fight over Pioneer cookware – which there was an abundant supply available – became the cause of the fight featured in news reports and social media around the globe.

The reports stated the lady assaulted over her box of Pioneer Cookware complained that “the offender who had already gotten several boxes, grabbed the box that the complainant had and tried to take it away from her.”

Accounts differed from the lady who was alleged to have started the fight, and was found to have only a single box in her own cart.

“It is noted there were still multiple cookware boxes remaining and it is unclear why the two fought over one particular box,” the officer reported last week.

Though some physical marks were caused by the altercation, no charges were filed and a report was made only to note the incident. Police did advice the woman assaulted of her rights.

No one was banned from the store over the incident either.

A video of the incident which was turned over to police did make the rounds following the holiday on social media and in news reports as far away as the United Kingdom.
