Chubb nominated for third Rookie of the Week award
♦ Cedartown standout running back scoring big for Browns in first year in NFL
The Nick Chubb news of late is all good for the hometown hero now running for touchdowns up in Cleveland.
In his rookie season, Chubb has thus far amassed 663 yards in 122 attempts on the ground with six touchdowns for the Browns, including one during a game against the Bengals a couple of weeks ago worthy of note. Then he added to the scorebook some more.
He might have only had a oneyard touchdown on the ground against the Bengals, but his 14-yard reception in the end zone was one Chubb fans will remember for years to come, and so will Bengals defender Brandon Wilson.
Chubb in that game became only he fourth rookie in NFL history to have rushing and receiving touchdowns in consecutive games.
He was set to play in the Browns’ game against Houston on Sunday after press time.
A few weeks back, Chubb ran for a 92-yard touchdown against the Falcons that beat a Browns team record held by Hall of Famer Bobby Mitchell.
Chubb and Browns rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield were also nominated for the NFL’s Rookie of the Week award. Chubb won the award twice before this season.
