UGA likely won’t take a hit even though freshman QB Justin Fields is considerin­g a transfer. Fields hadn’t yet announced any decision as of press time over the weekend, but Georgia will still have some talent in the backfield after picking up Dwan Mathis.

Major League Baseball, the Player’s Union and Cuba have come to terms to allow for players who want to be in the big leagues on the island to be drafted, but with some stipulatio­ns. You have to be under contract in Cuba already, at least 25 and played for six years.

The Atlanta Falcons needed some help in the backfield, and they found it on their practice squad for the time being. Atlanta signed Jeremy Langford to take up duties as running back last week, along with several others to help fill roster holes.

Kent Bazemore had to pay up to the NBA after officials fined him $10,000 for throwing a ball into the stands during the Hawks’ loss to the Brookyln Nets on Dec. 16. Atlanta stood at 8-23 as of press time over the weekend.

Scott Blackmun is in trouble. U.S. Senators have asked for an investigat­ion into what he knew about scandals with the U.S. Gymnastics team physician Dr. Larry Nassar. He stepped down in February while battling an advanced form of prostate cancer.

A former UT Chattanoog­a player is returning to his alma mater to serve as the head football coach. He came from Georgia State and had two previous stints as a Moc, both as player and an assistant coach.
