Farmers Market makes wet return from holidays in Rockmart

The Rockmart Farmers Market is officially back in business, and the first market of 2019 brought patrons all of the produce, meats, sweets, and treats locals have come to love since its conception in 2008.

The market’s recently completed three-week holiday hiatus marks the final break for the year until next Thanksgiving, so customers can stop by every Thursday from 2 through 6 p.m. on Water Street.

“We’ve been on break for a little while,” Market staff Heather Davis shared. “We have a great line up. Timberland Farms, Spreading Oaks, Quiet Acres, Sand Creek Farm, Morning Glory, Pecan Acres, Footehills Farmhouse, Dewey’s Sweets and Treets, 5 Cedars Farm, and That Foreign Chick’s Bakery. We’ll have grass-fed meat, romaine, radishes, turnip greens, lettuce, collards, carrots, Haikuri turnip, kale, salad mix, kohlrabi, soups, soaps, tinctures, baked sweets, breads, hand pies, Elderberry syrup, flu and respiratory teas, local honeys, lotion, eggs, and goat milk.”

The Fresh for Less program will continue to help those in need by doubling money spent using food stamps, and those interested can exchange EBT for tokens at the front desk.

It’s important to note that tokens purchased with EBT cannot be used on made to order items and certain select other products.

While each class sports an average fee of $5.50, scholarships may be available for those who apply.
