Local students earn honors at Georgia Southern University

Georgia Southern University recently released its spring 2023 President’s List and Dean’s List, which included students from Polk County.

Madison Ramirez of Rockmart was named to the President’s List for excellence in academics. To be eligible for the President’s List, a student must have at least a 4.0 grade point average and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester.

To be eligible for the Dean’s List, a student must have at least a 3.5 grade point average and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester. Those named to the Dean’s List were Jackson Bussey and Ross Davis of Cedartown.

Georgia Southern University, founded in 1906, offers approximat­ely 140 different degree programs serving more than 25,500 students through 10 colleges on three campuses in Statesboro, Savannah, Hinesville and online instructio­n.

VALDOSTA STATE

More than 1,600 students were named to Valdosta State University’s spring 2023 Dean’s List, including area residents.

To qualify for the Dean’s List at VSU, students must achieve a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher on nine or more semester hours with an institutio­nal grade point average of 3.00 or higher.

Local students named to the Dean’s List were Walker Hayes of Rockmart and Dallas Lackey of Cedartown.

GADSDEN STATE

The Gadsden State Community College Division of Health Sciences recognized students earning their associate degree in Registered Nursing during a recent pinning ceremony with speakers Matt Cleghorn, class president, and Gracie Berry, class chaplain.

The 2023 program graduates include Alicia McGill of Cave Spring, and Krista Gay, Khristen Lanham, and Daisy Ramirez, all of Cedartown.

BUCKNELL UNIVERSIT Y

Bucknell University has released the Dean’s List for outstandin­g academic achievemen­t during the spring semester of the 2022-23 academic year. A student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0 to receive dean’s list recognitio­n.

Among the students earning this honor is Caroline Dingler of Cedartown.
