Ge­orge R. Rochester

WOR­TON — Ge­orge Roland Rochester, 81, tran­si­tioned this life on Satur­day, Dec. 1, 2018, at Our Home in the Coun­try II in Wor­ton.

He was born May 30, 1937, in Rock Hall to James L. Rochester Sr. and Estelle Mary Hawkins Rochester.

Ge­orge, “Pie or Rock” as he was known, was pre­ceded in death by his first wife, Mary He­len Shep­pard Rochester; three sis­ters, Leslie Rochester, Marva Eadie and Ruby Hamilton; one brother, Charles Rudolph Rochester Sr.; and a spe­cial nephew, Charles R. “Brother­man” Rochester Jr.

Af­ter his re­tire­ment, Ge­orge moved to Gra­sonville with Karen Thomas and her three girls, Colee, Deja and Heather. He was known as “Pop Pop” to them and their chil­dren. He had a soft spot in his heart for “Nas” and talked of him of­ten.

He is sur­vived by a brother, James L “Bates” Rochester Jr.; three step­sons, Isiah Smith, Lon­nie Smith and James “Jim­mie Lee” Shep­pard;

10 grand­chil­dren;

17 great­grand­chil­dren; one sis­ter-in-law,

Rosa Lee Rochester; spe­cial nieces, Sh­eryll James, De­siree Rochester, Dr. Stacey Eadie and Loretta Brick­house Jack­son; a spe­cial nephew, James L. “Road” Rochester III; a spe­cial cousin, Michael Sisco; close friends, Clarence Wil­son Sr. and Ge­orge Hyn­son; and a host of nieces, neph­ews, cousins and friends.

View­ing will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Satur­day, Dec. 8, at Aaron Chapel U.M. Church, 5830 Crosby Road, Rock Hall.

Cel­e­bra­tion of Life will fol­low the view­ing. In­ter­ment will take place at Aaron Chapel Ceme­tery. Flow­ers and cards can be sent di­rectly to the church.
