William Lindale Benson “Dale”


EASTON — William Lindale Benson, Jr “Dale”, 78, of Easton MD, passed away surrounded by loved ones on November 12, 2021.

Dale was born on September 22, 1943, to William L. Benson, Sr and Sara V. Newnam Benson in Easton, MD. After graduating from Easton High School in 1961, he went on to enlist in the United States Air Force and remained active duty for 23 years before he retired as a Tech Sgt.

Dale loved his town of Oxford and all the people in it. He was an Oxford historian, attended all the town meetings and took an interest in the preservati­on of the town of Oxford. Dale was also an avid air gun enthusiast.

Dale is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Susan Benson, his sister-in-law: Nancy Howard; his niece: Debra McKay (John McKay); his nephew: James Howard (Anna Howard); his great niece Isabella Howard; and many cousins.

A visitation will be held November 19, 2021, from 5-7 at Fellows, Helfenbein, Newnam Funeral Home in Easton, MD and a graveside service will be held at the Oxford Cemetery November 20, 2021, at 12:00pm.
