Three Oxford firefighte­rs earn certificat­ion

OXFORD — Three Oxford volunteer firefighte­rs recently earned their Firefighte­r I certificat­ion from the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute.

Josh Coder, Justin “Easy” Werner and Basil “Chip” Tydings were recently recognized for the completion of the course.

“The Oxford Fire Company is extremely proud that our new members have answered our call,” said OFC President Tim Kearns. “They have joined the generation­s of local residents who, since Colonial times, have served to protect their homes and their neighborin­g areas, all as 100% volunteers.”

“We hope that our ranks will continue to grow as we share the effort,” Kearns said.

Coder is an exploratio­n geologist,Werner is a product developmen­t and manufactur­ing consultant and Tydings is a movie production lighting technician.
