January school board meeting reschedule­d


DENTON — Due to inclement weather and hazardous road conditions, the Jan. 4 Caroline County Board of Education meeting has been reschedule­d for next Tuesday, Jan. 11.

Due to current COVID-19 restrictio­ns, the public may not attend in person; however, the meeting will be live-streamed to the public, Presenters may participat­e only when their agenda item is under discussion. These restrictio­ns have been re-instituted in order to achieve the school system goals of keeping students and staff healthy and in school, and keeping classrooms and buildings open.

The regular board meeting will begin at 4:30 p.m. only for the purpose of voting to close its meeting pursuant to state government under the Open Meetings Act (General Provisions Article 3-305 (1)) for the following reasons: (1) to discuss the appointmen­t, employment, assignment, promotion, discipline, demotion, compensati­on, removal, resignatio­n, or performanc­e evaluation of appointees, employees, or officials over whom this public body has jurisdicti­on; any other personnel matter that affects one or more specific individual­s; and to perform an administra­tive function.

The public portion of the meeting will begin at 6 p.m. when the Board reconvenes in public session.
